Attenuated
Attenuated means that a procedure has
been used to weaken an agent of disease, such as a virus or bacterium.
A vaccine against a viral or bacterial disease can be made from an
attenuated, or weakened, strain of the virus or bacterium. As a result,
the virus or bacterium is able to stimulate an immune response to
protect the body against an illness.
